Israel was invaded from all sides in 1967. I had just returned to Canada after three years in Viet Nam, and had not yet commenced a new position. Abba Eban's passionate plea for help had me flying to the country where I worked in the Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem with Myer Makin. I know of no other goy working there, nor any other Canadian doctor who went to help. No one expected the war to be over so quickly. The excitement of my colleagues who took me with them to visit old Jerusalem and Masada at the Dead Sea was infectious.
